B A R E: The Olive Dreamscape in the Heart of Sabina

Location:  Torri in Sabina, Italy

About: In the Summer of 2019, we have had the pleasure of  being invited to the beautiful Italian country home of artist Shaun McDowell. The house itself is an ongoing project with great potential so we were quite lucky to have stayed there before all the renovation work started as we looked after Shaun's Segugio Maremmano called Vincent and the enchanted cat called Bella. Located in the heart of the Sabine region, logistically speaking, it is quite straightforward to get to via Rome - just a train ride away!

Imagine being on a hill topped with olive trees, untamed grasses and daisies as the bright yellow Mediterranean sun swoons over the hills. The hot weather was fervent yet the wind was gusting of fresh gleeful breeze. The rooftop was my favourite spot of the house as you get the 360O view of the entire vicinity whilst sipping wine - just pure bliss under the sun!

And just after getting lost in the wilderness you then get to go home and get served dinner over a stunning sunset - straight out of Giambattista Bassi's paintings of the Roman sunset. It was just a place for healing and a place for listening. I remember being alone for few days without feeling lonely as I would often find myself listening to my own thoughts and really valuing my time alone with nature...

I feel like trips like this one is what opens up your heart to the world because you are one with it. When you are far away from people and the city, you do not only get to hear the voices of the worlds around you but also how your heart is thanking you for being fully content about life, even just for a few days or minutes or seconds...

Thank you so much for reading!

I wrote this blog quite a long time ago but did not get around it sooner than expected.

I know times are tough these days and the world may never get back to 'normal' but it is important to never forget to cherish the times we enjoyed with our friends, families, strangers and most importantly with nature...

We need to keep reminding not only ourselves but also others of the beauty that lies in remembering and cherishing memories even if they have long passed.

Life is not just about living, it is also about being able to hold on to precious memories and people.

love,
